1. Information We Collect
We collect information that you voluntarily provide to us, information automatically collected through your use of the Service, and public data fetched from third-party networks.
- Public Flight & Pilot Data: The Service functions by fetching publicly available data from flight simulation networks. This includes your User ID, Username, Callsign, flight plan, live position, altitude, heading, and pilot statistics. This information is inherently public within the simulation community and is necessary to provide the core tracking functionality.
- Account Information: If you create an account to save preferences or access premium features, we collect your email address and authentication credentials.
- Payment Information: If you choose to purchase a "Pro" subscription, our third-party payment processor (Stripe) will collect your payment information. We do not store your full credit card details on our servers; we only receive secure tokens and confirmation of your subscription status.
- Usage Data & Device Information: We automatically collect information about how you access and use the Service. This includes your IP address, browser type, operating system, device information, pages visited, and timestamps. This is used for diagnostic analytics and to improve service stability.
- Cookies & Tracking Technologies: We use cookies and similar local storage technologies to store your preferences (such as custom map settings and UI themes) and to maintain your session. You can instruct your browser to refuse cookies, but some parts of the Service may become degraded or non-functional.
2. How We Use Your Information
We process your information for purposes based on legitimate business interests, the fulfillment of our contract with you, compliance with our legal obligations, and/or your consent. Specifically, we use your data to:
- Operate, maintain, and render the live tracking Service (e.g., displaying your active flight on the map interface).
- Personalize your experience by remembering your map preferences and displaying your specific pilot reports.
- Process transactions, manage your "Pro" subscription, and send related administrative or billing communications.
- Monitor, analyze, and diagnose usage trends to improve the infrastructure and user experience of the Service.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraudulent activity, or security breaches.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
By design, your live flight data (including callsign, username, and position) is publicly visible on our Service to all other users, as this is the fundamental purpose of a live flight tracker.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data under the following circumstances:
- Third-Party Service Providers: We employ trusted third-party companies to facilitate our Service. This includes Mapbox (for rendering mapping data and tiles), OpenWeatherMap (for fetching live meteorological data overlays), and Stripe (for handling subscription payments). These providers have access to your data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred as a business asset. We will provide notice before your personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency).
4. Data Retention
We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies. Public flight telemetry data is generally cached temporarily to render the live map and is routinely overwritten as your simulation progresses.
5. Data Security
The security of your data is paramount to us. We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. When you enter payment information, that data is transmitted securely via standard encryption protocols (SSL/TLS) directly to our payment processors. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
6. User Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on your geographic location, you may have specific rights regarding your personal data, including:
- The right to access: You can request copies of your personal data that we hold.
- The right to rectification: You can request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate or complete information you believe is incomplete.
- The right to erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): You can request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
- The right to restrict processing: You can request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information provided in the Contact section below. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law.
7. International Data Transfers
Your information, including personal data, may be transferred to—and maintained on—computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those from your jurisdiction. By consenting to this Privacy Policy and submitting your information, you represent your agreement to that transfer.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Service is strictly not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will take immediate steps to remove that information from our servers.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
